January 26th //\\// Day 26 //\\// Sunset

I’m trying to do less sky photos than I’ve done in the past because, while I might be fascinated by the sky, I imagine a lot of other people are less than excited about crazy cloud formations.

But today when leaving work conditions looked good for something I like to do.  I set my camera to P Mode (that stands for Professonal don’t you know? (K, no it actually stands for Program and many photographers whish it was wiped from existence but I quite like for many reasons I won’t get in to here.))  By shooting in this mode I can get some moderately random, and potentially great, exposures.  For example, I might not have thought to plan this shot the way it turned out and would have had to fiddle wth settings for a while to get here.  With P mode I just focus on the sun, the camera sets the exposure and I shoot.  The sun is still a bit hotter than I’d like, but I’m still happy with the result.

About Dave Wilson

I R Photog! Make Purdy Peectoors! Seriously though, I'm a photographer of many disciplines based in Edmonton, Alberta. I just love a great image, whether it's a penny on a sheet of ice or a $100,000 wedding ceremony or a puppy jumping for a frisbee.
